SDGs Ambassadors Programme

On September 25th 2015, countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet andensureprosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years.

The achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals will require all hands on deck.

In the other word, we need to turn the Global Goals into actively shared objectives for all of humanity, if we want to create a more sustainable world that works for all by 2030.

We need effective collaboration between the public and private sector and civil society at local, regional and global scale.

We need to create processes that generate engagement with the SDGs at the level of communities and bioregions everywhere. Only if local people will take responsibility for implementing the SDGs in their community and their region do we have a realistic change of accomplishing the audacious task set by Agenda 2030.

To motivate such a commitment we need people to understand the multiple benefits that will result from a successful implementation of all SDGs for their own lives, their families and communities, nations, and for humanity and the community of life as a whole.

Goal 17 further seeks to encourage and promote effective public, private and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships.

Having national leaders endorse a non-binding United Nations agreement to support the SDGs is Great Idea for SDGs Promotion. Leaders can set an intention on behalf of their electorate. Manifesting the agenda will require active participation of people and communities around the world.

We had some studies about Advocacy Programme and decided to launch a similar one to promote SDGs by using the global understanding methodology which is creating bottom-up awareness about the global challenges and how it is related to people’s daily activities . The Programme name is “SDGs Ambassadors”.

SDGs Ambassadors will build on their unique standing and leadership to promote the SDGs as part of an ambitious and transformative global development agenda.

To be a SDG Ambassador, you need to know about SDGs, sustainability and different ways of contribution and SDG challenges.so, we held tailor-made SDGs training courses as following:

The SDGs Learning, Training and Practice sessions, which will take place training workshop, will focus on sessions supporting the theme: "Ensuring that no one is left behind".

It will aim to provide a strategic vision and practical knowledge to participants on how to find effective sustainable solutions for their community, be it a country, city, village or neighbourhood.

Global Understanding as a UNESCO Chair Programme works on promoting and implementing Sustainable development strategies through linking the global challenges to the local actions. With the aim of increasing public awareness in the level of both country and the region, this institute has started to promote UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by public figures active in the field of Art or sport as thought leaders in SDGs Ambassador plan.

With regard to Nemati’s background in supporting the full equality of the rights for the persons with disabilities under the law in 2017 general assembly of UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and based on UN new agenda on sustainable development goals, she will promote and increase the public awareness in related SD goals including the following ones with a focus on “Creating a better world for the persons with disabilities”
